Review – The Hollow Men – Food Chain
This next album has been in my current rotation for a few weeks now and there is a good reason for it. It’s pretty damn good. The album is called Food Chain by a band called The Hollow Men. They are a three piece from the Netherlands.
Their sound is a mix of hard rock, classic rock with bits of some post grunge. The opening track, “Euphoria” is a fine example. It’s a bit heavy and fuzzy and melodic at the same time. It’s a good opening track. “Top of The Food Chain” is next and carries in the same vain. “Out in The Cold” is fast paced, fuzzy and the drums really stand out on this track. “Throne” is really upbeat and a happy tune. “Soldier” is a bit slower down tuned and a tad on the doomy side. It reminds me of an Alice in Chains track. The album comes to an end with the track “Bleeding” which is also slower, mellower and upbeat.
The album is short, it’s only 30 minutes long. It could probably be an EP based on the length. Either way, I thought that Food Chain was a pretty good album. It turns out too that these guys have put out a few albums before that should be worth checking out as well. Their sound is good and I look forward to hear more future releases by these guys.
