Brooklyn Metal Band KINGS DESTROY Announces November Live Performances; Prepares to Record Sophomore LP

Brooklyn heavy metal band KINGS DESTROY has announced a string of upcoming live performances set to kick off this weekend in Philadelphia, PA. The fast-rising group will take the stage on Saturday, November 5 at Philly’s The Barbary and will follow with a FREE hometown show on Monday, November 7 at The Acheron in Brooklyn (more info. HERE). KINGS DESTROY will then bring their powerful mix of stoner rock, doom and NYHC to BKLYN heavy music fans again on November 17 when they team up with doom rockers The Gates of Slumber and Premonition 13 at the aptly-named Saint Vitus Bar (more info. HERE). Prepare!

KINGS DESTROY is a thundering unit with a name taken from “an infamous late 70’s / early 80’s Bronx based graffiti crew” and a gang of musicians whom Decibel astutely deemed “a literal who’s-who of the New York underground stoner doom scene.” The band will hit the studio later this month to demo songs for its sophomore album and follow up to its celebrated debut And the Rest Will Surely Perish, a heavy-handed album that the Village Voice described as “Fueled mainly by Sabbath’s grooves, Sleep’s foggy haze, and Yob’s oppressive thunder.”

“And the Rest Will Surely Perish”

In additional KINGS DESTROY news, the band has announced that And the Rest Will Surely Perish (released on CD by The Maple Forum) will see its long-awaited vinyl release in early 2012 via Hydro-Phonic records (Black Pyramid, Sourvein, etc). Produced by Sanford Parker (Zoroaster, Brutal Truth) at the world famous Water Music Recorders (Motörhead, The Misfits) in Hoboken, NJ, KINGS DESTROY‘s And the Rest Will Surely Perish is a sharp statement of intent. Combining “powerful riffs and powerful lyrics” with a strong interest in futuristic ideas and science fiction, the record promises “a hefty dooming” delivered with a “sans-bullshit stylistic simplicity” that has drawn comparison to early Cathedral or Solitude Aeturnus. The album’s artwork has been designed by the venerable Seldon Hunt (ISIS, Caïna, Thrones).

Brooklyn Vegan recently premiered KINGS DESTROY‘s music video for “The Mounty“. Check it out now at this location.

KINGS DESTROY features guitarists Carl Porcaro and Chris Skowronski from NYHC legends — and 100,000+ album selling unit — Killing Time, drummer Rob Sefcik from Man’s Ruin artists The Begotten and Electric Frankenstein, vocalist Steve Murphy from NYHC band Uppercut and bassist Aaron BumpusKINGS DESTROYis a very giving unit; the band sponsors the Brooklyn-based AAU youth basketball team the “Onpoint Cyclones”, donating a portion of all band proceeds to the outfit.

“like Yob or the Melvins…storming forth out of the mean streets of Brooklyn…doomy” – AOL MUSIC’s Noisecreep

stripped-down, fuzzed-out metal” – DECOY

“in the case of Kings Destroy, this isn’t crossover music, as defined years ago – this is pure unadulterated Sab worship. And it works wonderfully.” – VERBICIDE

“With a majority of KINGS DESTROY members possessing a NYHC union cards, the last thing the otherwise uninformed might assume about “And the Rest will Surely Perish” is how just how much of a quintessential blues-based, classic doom metal album it is. It’s not sludgy or atmospheric, nor is it some kind of experimental hybrid. It is heavy fucking doom metal in the traditional sense…those good ole devil blues that defined the works of the masters, including the first BLACK SABBATH album.” – BLABBERMOUTH
