HIGH ON FIRE Frontman Talks About Making Of ‘De Vermis Mysteriis’

Toby Cook of The Quietus recently conducted an interview with Matt Pike of the San Francisco Bay Area hard rock band HIGH ON FIRE. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

The Quietus: The title of the [new HIGH ON FIRE] record, “De Vermis Mysteriis”, obviously has links to the grimoires of Robert Bloch and H.P. Lovecraft, but the concept is based around the idea that Jesus had a twin who died at birth, and then became a time traveller, right? Can you clear up what the fuck’s going on there?

Pike: Yeah, well, he died at birth so that Jesus could live and then forwards himself through time and sees the destruction that Christianity causes and tries to travel back in time to warn his brother — who’s innocent of all this. CLUTCH is currently in the midst of a North American tour which features headlining shows, co-headlining dates with HELLYEAH and a radio festival appearance.

CLUTCH will embark on a headlining tour this summer with support from PRONG and LIONIZE. The tour is scheduled to kick off July 11 in Fayetteville, Arkansas and currently scheduled to wrap up on July 22 in Richmond, Virginia. (more…)

GRAND MAGUS: New Video Interview With JANNE ‘J.B.’ CHRISTOFFERSSON

Steel And Fire recently conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Janne “J.B.” Christoffersson of Swedish heavy rockers GRAND MAGUS. You can now watch the chat below.

Due to family obligations and work commitments, drummer Sebastian “Seb” Sippola has left GRAND MAGUS. The new man behind the kit is Ludwig “Ludde” Witt (SPIRITUAL BEGGARS, FIREBIRD, SHINING).
Commented Sebastian: “It took a load off my mind that Ludwig was chosen because he is a friend of mine. By the way, honestly and objective: In my opinion Ludwig is the best replacement for me because he already knows J.B. and Fox [Skinner, bass] and he exactly knows which demands the drumming at GRAND MAGUS will make on him. They will be a great team and I’m really looking forward to see them live — though I have no idea, how my reaction will be in this situation.” (more…)
