Daily Bandcamp Album – Hazzard’s Cure – Hazzard’s Cure

If you open an album with a riff that instantly puts me in mind of ‘In The Grip Of Winter’ by Autopsy, you’ve pretty much won me over. If you then proceed to knock out an album’s worth of tracks that smush that dirty, feelthy slightly askew Autopsy tone with equal parts balls-out-pedal-to-the-metal High On Fire-isms, Buzzov-en-esque dirty crust-punk fury and some more-than-likely drug inspired prog spazzout moments then the name of your band is Hazzard’s Cure and you’ve pretty much got me for life.

If you like it dirty, trippy, aggressive and highly likely to induce a colossal bangover, then Hazzard’s Cure is for you. Cure for what though? Hmmmm…I dunno, but I reckon the cure for being FALSE would be pretty spot on. – Sleeping Shaman

Review – The Mound Builders – Strangers in A Strange Land

How about some fine stoner metal that treads the line between that and sludge? How about a little bit of some heavy metal, thrash and hardcore? Well you asked for it, you got it. The Mound Builders are your band.

Their debut album, Strangers in A Strange Land is a whirlwind of fast and furious music. It starts of with an awesome instrumental called “Wake of the Red Witch” which serves as an intro of sorts and lets you know what you’re in store for. If there’s anytime to get out, that’s it because once it starts, may the lord have mercy on your soul. Strangers in A Strange Land is going to whip you up and kick your ass. It’s not even going to have the courtesy to ask your name or give you a reach around either. Should it? Hell no! It’s very very heavy, fast and sludgy. It’s loud and in your face. It’s almost as if (more…)

Review – Blue Snaggletooth – Dimension Thule

This one popped upon the radar recently. The band is Blue Snaggletooth from Ann Arbor, MI. This is their album Dimension Thule. Before I get on the with review just look at the cover. The fucking cover rocks. I like the art style and direction and it’s got that limited contrasting color scheme. Plus when I look at it it says to me, “We’re a rock band that’s going to go out with our guitars and babes with guns, defend the universe and kill fucking inter-planet mutant snakes.” Mother fucking mutant snakes!

Besides the cool cover the music is pretty good too. It’s bad ass 1970’s influenced hard rock. Potheads will like this one. Metal heads will too as at times it does border a bit of the metal style at times. There’s plenty of wah wah and some fuzz involved. At times it does groove with the riff laden track “Insomnia.” “Death of the Time Lords” and “Recollection Blues” has a southern bluesy rock feel to it. “Sector 7” is an instrumental track that is part (more…)

Review – Southern Discomfort – Confrontation

Sodom and Kreator move to Louisiana, are so inspired by all things N’Awlins that they form an Eyehategod cover band. (Naming themselves after the song…?)

Thrash’ed sludge.

It’s as fucked up and awesome as it sounds.

The precision of the above Teutonic titans, with the greasy EHG riffing sounds…. (more…)
