Review – The Atomic Bitchwax – The Local Fuzz

WOW! That’s all I can say. To quote a popular Thin Lizzy song, “The Boys Are Back In Town.” The Atomic Bitchwax are returning with their latest album called The Local Fuzz, due out April 26th from Tee Pee Records. This is their fifth studio album. The Local Fuzz is a little bit of a different step from past material. They kept their trademark sound but instead of multiple songs ranging from 3-8 minutes each, The Local Fuzz is one 42 minute instrumental track. It is a fuzz enthusiasts dream album. The album is very heavy and fuzzy throughout with some spacey and psychedelic moments and some classic and blues rock moments. It’s filled to the rim with riff after riff. There’s a moment where one portion instantly reminded me  of Mountain’s “Mississippi Queen” and another that reminded me of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. There are breaks when one section becomes another so it would be interesting to see if they play the album as a whole or break it up with older material in between when they play live.

Fans of their previous material won’t be disappointed. Anyone into big guitar riffs and/or great instrumental rock will love this.
