The Next Hundred Years is a band from Vancouver Canada. They play an interesting blend of hard rock citing influences such as Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age. Their sound is not desert rock though. Perhaps a heavier Queens though. Very good and highly recommended.

bio:
IRON CLAW – A Different Game
Serendipity.
From 1969 to 1974 Scottish Heavy Rock band Iron Claw plowed across theUK, blasting out relentlessly heavy doom-laden, heavy blues rock. In and out of the recording studios, the band never officially released an album, but the bulk of their recorded output finally saw the light of day in 2009, released as a self-titled CD by Rockadrome. 35 years had passed since their last recording, but it was as if time had stood still. 2009 found a hungry audience, salivating at the heavy riffs and earthshaking rock that was Iron Claw. Stunned by the overwhelming response, the lads of Iron Claw started talking and soon, the band had reformed to work on new material. The buzz began to build. (more…)

There’s a cemetery in the south suburbs of Chicago called Bachelor’s Grove. It’s rumored to be haunted. Over the years many people have gone to the cemetery in search for such ghosts, myself included. Most chicken out at the gate, others do not. This isn’t a haunted ghost story, this is about music. The band (whom I’m sure took their name from the cemetery) is from Chicago and play mellowed out, blues based stoner rock.

“Holy fuzz rock Batman” would be the words out of Robin’s mouth after listening to Stubb’s debut full length. Stubb has been around for a few years with one EP under their belt. Well they have just released their first full length and oh it is ever so good.
Stubb is a fine mix of hard rock, blues rock with plenty of fuzz. Right away the album kicks into high gear with the track “Road” and it doesn’t stop until the last note in “Galloping Horses.” “Road” is one catchy tune in itself. The Cream/Hendrix like riffs and guitar work, the catchy tune and lyrics (“Every road I take, it leads me to your door.”). “Scale The Mountain” gets fuzzier and a bit more aggressive but yet melodic at the same time. “Soul Mover” is what I would describe as a soul mover, the track was written to really get you going. It’s fast paced and really grooves. “Hard Headed (more…)

We was formed in October, 2011, in Budapest, Hungary. In december we got a chance to record our concert for almost free, so we did it, however at that time we had been playing together only 2 months. Fortunately the songs come easy for our songwriter, Rico.
Ok, so what do you get when you reincarnate Kyuss (MK1) and place them on the other side of the earth? The results may surprise you but Head For The Sun would probably be that band. They’ve got some kick ass stoner/desert rock vibes going. They have a FREE live show to download (Bandcamp player below). Check out their cover of “Pilot the Dune” by Slo Burn on the video below. Is it Thursday already? Yes, in fact, it’s the LAST Thursday this month. The month flew by pretty quickly. I’m going to stop beating around the bush. All FREE music. Support, support, support and support. If you like what you hear, give back in any way you can. Hell even a “like” on their Facebook page and telling all your friends works when all else fails. Anyways, the music, there are a few instrumentals this week. Lets give the vocalists some rest shall we?
Bear Baiting is the brainchild of bassists Matt Boylan (Cuneiform) and Dennis Valles (Helen 55). The two met at a mutual friend’s show and discussed a 2 bass project. Shortly after, the two got together and started writing material. Valles decided to program all the drums, and take a more DIY approach, tracking and mixing everything. We’re proud of our experiment, and hope you enjoy as well.Bear Baiting play instrumental post rock and shoegaze blend of music. Very interesting and very good stuff indeed.

Doublestone was formed in Copenhagen, January 2011 as a grunge duo.
Already two months after, they made the first release (7 “vinyl, with 3 Tracks), which has been very well received. Kira Skov, from DR-songwriter commented on the single” Loaded “and was extremely positive.
Since then the style changed, to be more 70’s highway-rock, more stoner. Yet still with high energy and simple songs. Plus they have acquired a charming young bassist who really manages to get the new style and groove.
They have played 9 shows in Copenhagen, and have just returned from a trip to Seattle, where they went live on the radio to present the music.
Doublestone will try to schedule a tour this autumn on the U.S. west coast.
They’ll record all the new stuff in January 2012. (more…)
