More Details Revealed For Clutch’s “Pigtown Blues” 7″

Further details have been revealed for Clutch‘s upcoming 7″ picture disc release, “Pigtown Blues“. Both the title track and its accompanying b-side, an acoustic reworking of the bands “Motherless Child“, were recorded earlier this year with J. Robbins.
The first 500 copies of the release will be signed by the band with an April 24th release date via their Weathermaker Music label being planned. A number of copies of the effort will also be on hand at select stores for this years “Record Store Day“, which falls on April 21st.
JP Gastor of Clutch To Drum on New Five Horse Johnson Album
A recent Facebook status update from Small Stone Records had this to say:
We have some very big news… Five Horse Johnson will begin recording their new album with J. Robbins (remember Jawbox) tweaking the knobs at his studio sometime in March. Also, JP from Clutch will behind the drum kit on said recordings. The plan is to have the album finished by June, but it is Five Horse Johnson after all, so you never really know for sure.
JP drummed on the band’s 2006 release, The Mystery Spot.

Maryland rockers CLUTCH are teaming up with HELLYEAH for a North American Co-Headlining Tour this Spring. Both bands will play full headlining sets. The tour kicks off April 13th in Providence, RI and runs through May 11th in Joliet, IL. Weathermaker Music has announced the date of February 28th as the official retail release for the CLUTCH double vinyl edition of Blast Tyrant. This 180+ gram expanded vinyl contains 16 songs and includes six mini-posters taken straight from Blast Tyrant’s “Atlas of the Invisible World”. Each illustrated poster is sized (8.5″ x 11″) and depicts one of the various characters featured within the Blast Tyrant storyline. Prior to February 28th, the double vinyl edition of Blast Tyrant is exclusively available via www.clutchmerch.com.

The 9% alcohol by volume dark sour ale joins New Belgium‘s Lips Of Faith Series, adding to a beer family which already includes the highly popular Fat Tire Ale, which is now sold in over 32 of the 48 continental United States. Clutch is just one of those bands. Everybody has an opinion on them. There are a few things that is for sure. They have made some rather incredible albums and they all ROCK!!! I’ll be the first to tell you that they were not my cup of tea the first time that I tried and listen to them. My first experience was Pure Rock Fury, which I would still advise against trying to listen to if it is your first experience with the band. After a constant buzzing in my ear about the band, I gave them another listen. Now, I can’t even settle on which album I like listening to more. I find it strange. (more…)

Review – Larman Clamor – Altars To Turn Blood
After 2 successful releases earlier in the year, Larman Clamor have released their latest full length album titled Altars To Turn Blood. For those of you new to the band, Larman Clamor are a two piece from Germany. They play a mixture of different styles including delta blues, lo-fi, garage, stoner, psychedelic and swamp rock.
Altars To Turn Blood channels some of the influences including ZZ Top, R.L. Burnside, Dr. John, Iron Butterfly, The White Stripes, Endless Boogie, early Monster Magnet, Clutch, Earth, Blackwolfgoat, and Creedence Clearwater Revival to name a few. It rocks hard and it’s also ambient and bluesy at the same time. The majority of the album is a bit more down tempo and mellow as is evident in tracks like “Handful of Hex,” “Altars To Turn Blood” and “Phantom & Rinosaur.” A few of the more upbeat songs are “Deep In The Tar” and “Limb Creek Boogie.” (more…)
