Daily Bandcamp Album – Dust Angel – Demo CD

DUST ANGEL was formed by guitarist Paul Cripple (of Reagan Youth) and vocalist Madame St. Beatrice. With Mikey “Three Fingers” Agrovator on drums and Malik Panther on bass they played their first gig 12/4/11.

Now DUST ANGEL has recorded six, sexy new songs for your listening pleasure. Though they’re demos, they’re a great representation of DUST ANGEL’s sound

Daily Bandcamp Album – Ashes Of Iron – Ashes Of Iron

“It is all about the groove, the energy and the intensity, the duelling guitars tuned down to a thunderous growl, the pumping bass lines, the addictive choruses and melodies that can be so subtle and subdued, then in an instant smash you in the face. The direction Ashes of Iron take to manipulate these grooves and chosen chord patterns is what makes them unique to the bands of a similar caliber and combined with passionate and super tight live shows this is why they are one the Northeast’s favourite heavy rock artists……………..”

Introducing… Doctor Cyclops

Here’s a juicy one for you. The band is Doctor Cyclopes. They’re a 70’s based psych blues band. Think Graveyard and even a little Siena Root.

Official Bio:

Doctor Cyclops is a seventies-style power trio playing heavy rock music inspired by a vintage sound, eldest son of glorious Balck Sabbath and of other more underground heroes from the 70ies and early 80ies such as Truth and janey, Sir Lord Baltimore, Captain Beyond, Witchfinder General. Even later and more modern references are warm-vintage style ones: Witchcraft, Firebird, Cathedral, Spiritual Beggars just to say some. (more…)

Daily Bandcamp Album – Black Thunder – Black Thunder

I’ll admit, I haven’t really looked into these guys at all. A quick search in Facebook turned up a lot of bands with the name Black Thunder. They were found on accident when searching through Bandcamp. These guys play heavy blues based riff rock. Think The Heavy Eyes. What more can I say? Listen for yourself, these guys are the real deal.

Introducing… Zombie King

ZOMBIE KING was born in 2008. Soon, the group wants to move in a register stoner-rock, influenced by bands like Black Sabbath, Kyuss or Fu Manchu. After a debut album released in 2009, the group chained concerts, making the first part of groups spearheaded by the French stoner scene, or GLOWSUN DISIDENTES LOS DEL MOTEL Sucio. 2011 saw the release of second album, “Son of a witch”, much more rooted in the landscape stoner than its predecessor.
Here’s a story about a french band that are really into The Walking Dead Tv Show that they named their band after a zombie. Ok so that part was made up. Really though, Zombie King are from France. They play stoner rock with a lot of heavy Black Sabbath influenced crushing riffs. The band is female (more…)

Introducing… Murcielago

Doug from Gozu gets credit for pointing out this next band to me.

Murcielago has started recording. We have had a couple of days recording at Acadia Recording Co. in Portland. Stay tuned for some tunes.

Portland’s got itself a new rock supergroup: MURCIELAGO.
Named for a bull that wouldn’t die during a bullfight (it’s also spanish for “Bat”), they’re loud as hell and feature guitarists NEIL COLLINS (TWISTED ROOTS, LINCOLNVILLE, ELDEMUR KRIMM) and MATTHEW ROBBINS (KING MEMPHIS), plus bassist NICK LAMBERTO (LOST ON LIFTOFF, RULER OF THE RAGING MAIN), and drummer BRIAN CHALOUX (PIGBOAT). Review – Summoner – Phoenix

Looking for a great metal album with lots of doomy and sludgy undertones? Look no further, the Phoenix has risen. The band is Summoner. They were formerly known as Riff Cannon and released an album almost 3 years ago called Mercury Mountain. Phoenix is their 2nd album, first under the new name.

Phoenix has everything to it that you’d come to love about a stoner metal album. It’s got the sludgy undertones both instrumentally as well as vocally. At times it’s a little doomy and you can even hear hints of psychedelic, space rock and progressive metal here and there. If there is one thing that Phoenix is good for, it’s the almighty riff. There are some mighty fine songs on here. “Winged Hessians” is a bit proggy and leads right into “Conjuring” (more…)

Review – The Heavy Eyes – The Heavy Eyes

I woke up this morning to find out that The Heavy Eyes have just released their first full length. Is this what a wake n bake is? If so, I think I need some every day. After a 4 track demo (that sounded like more than a demo) and a sampler released last month, The self titled release is finally here.

If you’ve heard their previous material then you know what to expect. Well the self titled is all that and a lot more. Besides the obvious attention to detail, a full mixing and mastering session to get the songs together, the full length comes complete with great song writing, instrument playing, a ton of riffs and all round and a great sound. There’s a lot of psychedelic blues and 70’s inspired music throughout to keep your interest perked from start to finish. It’s really hard to pick a winning song here, they’re all great. If any of these songs were meant to be filler then I think I’d be shocked. Not a (more…)

Today’s New Band To Burn One To is The Five Tones.

With each passing day the Black Keys get bigger and bigger. With that there’s a lot of bands that are following on The Black Keys’ coat tails. Very few of those are actually good enough to stand on their own and out of the shadows of The Black Keys. One such band is The Five Tones.Hailing from Tennessee, They howl at you with some giant blues rock riffs.
